The TT monitors the global shipping market in great detail, developing contacts with ship owners, agents, port authorities and other chartering agencies. Having these contacts and their information at their fingertips gives the TT the advantage of knowing where appropriate tonnage is available at any given moment. This knowledge base enables AKFT to respond immediately to any request.

The shipping market, like other markets, is cyclical; its rates are driven by the volume of oil being moved and the volume of tonnage available to carry it. The TT is constantly aware of how oil prices are likely to affect worldwide shipping rates, so takes time to bring the most value by the most efficacious means.

Most importantly, the primary role of the AKFT TT is to ensure that the ships it uses comply with the appropriate shipping safety conventions maintained worldwide.
